Just a few months ago, Captain Vijayakanth's newly-floated DMDK managed to secure over 25 lakh votes in the Assembly elections and Vijayakanth managed to get himself elected as MLA from Vridhachalam. At several places, his party candidate comes to a close third.
Expectations are now high on Vijayakanth's party for the forthcoming Local Body elections to be held later next month. His party cadres have enthusiastically filed nominations all throughout Tamil Nadu.
Expectations are high on the political fortunes of Vijayakanth, who has chosen to contest independently this election too.
Can he live up to the expectations? Yes is the word from the party cadre. They have begun all the ground work and are optimistic of their chances. Recent success of Vijayakanth's Perarasu is seen as positive sign by Vijayakanth's fans and his supporters.
Meanwhile, Vijayakanth faces an acid test in the form of bye-elections to Madurai central Assembly constituency where his party candidate is pitted against DMK and AIADMK.
Elsewhere, on the cinema front Vijayakanth is enjoying a good period. His Perarasu is running to good collections.
